Doc has a dilema.  He has just been given a week’s pass to London. But ... and we always know what
happens with those. The squad has been given an extremely dangerous mission of going behind the lines to
acquire a particular German officer. Doc knows this is going to be a dangerous mission. He is sure that some of
his regulars will ultimately get injured and need his services.  So you have to decide if he has a wonderful trip
back to England or he is filthy climbing through mud and battlefields to care for his squadmates?

Challenge entry by Ranger:

Saunders entered the disheveled quarters that his squad had inherited when they'd taken
the downtrodden french town.  The members of the beleagured squad looked up with
haunted eyes.  Saunders looked around the darkened room glancing onto Doc who was
laying on the cot directly in front of him. "Doc, you have orders to report to England for
enhanced medic training and a furlough. :

Doc looked up in surprise.  The rest of the Squad blinked, sat up and took attention to
the topic of conversation.

Saunders Continued, " Here's your'e papers Doc, have fun, Jeep is waiting for you. Get
your stuff together."

As Doc was getting his stuff together, he couldn't help but overhear the Sergeant telling
the rest of the squad to saddle up that they were about to head out on a dangerous
mission that would involve crossing the German lines for a rescue mission.

He heard Kirby grumbling about his sore feet and Littlejohn complaining that this was
their first rest in a month.  He heard Billy complaining that his shoulder was still sore
from the bullet he had taken in the last town. He glanced around and saw the dismay on
Caje's face.

As he put the last of his personal items into his pack, Doc took one last look around the
cramped quarters and saw the look of his squadmates as they watched him.  Their faces
varied from dispair, worry, weary, to happiness for Doc. Such emotions.

Doc begrudgingly gathered his stuff and headed out of the shelter. Turning once to face
the squad to say goodbye, his throat suddenly choked. He coudln't manage to say
anything.  He just put his hand up to the men and waved in silence.  He silently wished
all good luck.  He knew in his heart from the heaviness of Saunders voice that this
would be an improtant but dangerous mission. Causualties would be assured.

The jeep revved up the battleworn road.  Doc glanced back in time to see Saunders
leading the squad out of the french town.  He thought how tired they all looked.  With a
grim look on his face he placed his arm back on the jeep's side and looked ahead to the
direction the jeep was traveling.

Saunders was was now bringing up the rear of  the squad as they headed out around the
last bend in the road leading out of town when he heard the heavy footsteps jogging up
behind him.  Turning rapidly to see who was approaching the Sergeant was surprised to
see the red and white helmet of his medic.
